This song has a great meaning behind it, like many of Garth's hits. But if you listen to this song you just start to put your life into prospective. You begin to revisit all the "what ifs" in your life. It reminds us to take life one day at a time, and remember that sometimes 'The Dance' is worth all the pain and consequences we have to live.
There are many comments on this video that are very intersting. Some people talk about leaving there loved ones to travel the world. Some talked about their inspiration to take risks in life, involving work, relationships, what have you.
For those of you who havent heard this hit I will copy and paste they lyrics.
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

I related to this song when it came out in 1990 . My huband and I had been married for 5 years . I was a hard marriage but We stayed together. I lost him to a drug overdose in april of 2016 . He was 10 years younger than me . I being 63 him 53 at his passing . I did not know of his use of cocain leading to his one time use of The big "H" it took his life . We were married 31 years . I think back just like the song says . I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance . It was foreshadowing of what was to come in my life .. but only God knew that ..

ReplyDelete..held one another. Crying...letting go...of true love ,forever.song says it all.
Take the chance...it may never come again...dance.
ReplyDeleteDance til it hurts to say goodbye...
Then 20 Yeats later, close your eyes .
Play the song...remember the love you shared, up in the mountains, neath the stars above...
I took the Dance and didn't know the pain, but found out the hard way, Lost my wife< kids, and family, ended up with no one, but pain, check that dance floor very carefully, it can be awfully slippery, wish that dance had never come, but learn from it.
